The Last Days of Summer

July 4, 2019 @ 11:00 am - 5:00 pm

An exhibition of 21 digital works by Melbourne artist, Peter Hyatt.

Melbourne architectural photographer and writer Peter Hyatt’s first solo exhibition is a travelogue of a world in transition – and peril.

‘Distressed beauty’ is how the artist describes his work where tourism and commerce threaten the delicate ecosystem of old and ancient cultures.

Hyatt’s experience as architectural photographer and writer provide vital insights with rhythms of light and shadow, structure and nature. His digital art is comprised of multiple photographic and hand drawn layers as windows into the past and future.

Theatre and architectures’ proscenium arch is a repeated motif framing and contrasting the old and new. Luminous skies, phosphorescent seas and antiquity create a narrative of stage-sets where human footprints frequently cast disturbing shadows.
